Setting up the Sandcastles MCP in Grok Bot
You can connect Sandcastles to Grok Bot by asking it, in a chat, to add Sandcastles as a custom MCP server and then signing in with your Sandcastles account. Once it's connected, you can research your watchlist, videos and channels right from Grok Bot.
Grok Bot is xAI's personal agent, and you sign in to it with a Cursor account. It's separate from Grok at grok.com. To use Sandcastles in Grok at grok.com instead, see How to set up the Sandcastles MCP in Grok.
Before you start
- You need a Sandcastles Pro, Visionary or Titan plan. The MCP isn't included in the Starter plan.
- You need a paid Cursor plan (Pro, Pro+, Ultra or Teams), or a SuperGrok or X Premium+ account linked to Grok Bot.
- The server URL is
https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/. You can also find it in Sandcastles under Settings > Connectors on the MCP card. Hover over the URL and click Copy.
Add Sandcastles to Grok Bot

Open a chat in Grok Bot.

Paste this prompt and send it:
Add a custom MCP server called Sandcastles at https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/ -
Confirm on the card Grok Bot shows to add the server.

Use the connect card to sign in. Your browser opens the Sandcastles sign-in page.

Log in with your Sandcastles account and approve the connection.
Then try a prompt like: "Use Sandcastles to show me the top videos in my watchlist from the last 7 days."
Important notes
- MCP servers you added in the Cursor editor don't carry over to Grok Bot. Add Sandcastles in Grok Bot itself, even if it's already connected in Cursor.
- On a Cursor Teams plan, your team admin's plugin and MCP policy applies to Grok Bot.
- Analyzing a new video uses 1 credit. If the video is already in your workspace, it's free. See Does using the Sandcastles MCP cost credits? for details.
- The MCP works in the workspace you last had open in Sandcastles. You can ask Grok Bot to list your workspaces or switch to another one. Switching also changes the workspace you see the next time you open Sandcastles.
Troubleshooting
- "Your Sandcastles plan doesn't include MCP access." Your account isn't on a Pro, Visionary or Titan plan. Upgrade, then try your prompt again.
- "You don't have enough credits to perform this action." You're out of credits for analyzing new videos. You can buy more in Settings > Subscription > Buy additional credits.
