Connecting Sandcastles to Claude

This guide will walk you through setting up the Sandcastles MCP (Model Context Protocol) within Claude, allowing you to leverage Sandcastles' data analysis capabilities directly in your AI interactions.

Step 1: Accessing Sandcastles MCP Plugin

  1. Navigate to the Settings section in the left-hand sidebar of your Sandcastles interface.
  2. Click on Connectors.
  3. You will see an API section and an MCP section. For this setup, we will focus on the MCP section.
  4. Go to the MCP Section and click “Download Plugin vX.X.X”

Step 2: Installing the Sandcastles Plugin in Claude

  1. Download the Claude Desktop App (https://claude.com/download)
  2. In the Claude Desktop app, switch to Cowork (must be in the Desktop app to install the plugin, can’t do it from the normal browser-based chat)
  3. Click “Customize” → Click “+” within Personal Plugins → Create Plugin → Upload Plugin
  4. Drag the Sandcastles Plugin Zip Folder into the area and press “Upload”
  5. Once it’s loaded in, press “Connectors” underneath the new Sandcastles Connector. Click the Install button next to it.
  6. A modal window titled "Add custom connector" will appear. The fields for "sandcastles" and the URL https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/ should be pre-filled.
  7. You can expand Advanced settings if needed, but for a standard setup, these are optional.
  8. Click the Add button.

Note: The process of adding the connector via the "Add custom connector" modal may seem to do nothing on the screen, but the connector is being registered in the background.

Step 3: Connecting the Sandcastles Instance via Chat

  1. Switch from Cowork into Chat (upper left button switcher)
