How to set up the Sandcastles MCP in OpenClaw

Setting up the Sandcastles MCP in OpenClaw

You can connect Sandcastles to OpenClaw by adding the Sandcastles MCP server and signing in with your Sandcastles account. The quickest way is to ask OpenClaw to do it for you.

Before you start

• You need a Pro, Visionary or Titan plan. The MCP isn't included in the Starter plan.
• The server URL is https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/. You can also copy it in Sandcastles under Settings > Connectors on the MCP card: hover over the URL and click Copy.

Option 1: Ask OpenClaw (recommended)

1. Send OpenClaw this message:

   Run openclaw mcp add sandcastles --url https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/ --transport streamable-http --auth oauth, then run openclaw mcp login sandcastles and send me the sign-in link.
   

   Copy

2. Approve running the commands if OpenClaw asks you to.

3. Open the sign-in link OpenClaw sends you.

4. Sign in with your Sandcastles account.

Option 2: Run the commands yourself

1. Open a terminal and add the Sandcastles server:

   openclaw mcp add sandcastles --url https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/ --transport streamable-http --auth oauth

2. Start the sign-in:

   openclaw mcp login sandcastles
   

   Copy

3. Open the sign-in link it prints, and sign in with your Sandcastles account.

4. If your browser can't get back to OpenClaw after you sign in, copy the code you're shown and run:

   openclaw mcp login sandcastles --code <code>
   

   Copy

   Replace <code> with your code.

Option 3: Use the Control UI

1. In the OpenClaw Control UI, click + > Connectors > Add MCP server….
2. Enter https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/ as the URL.
3. Choose OAuth for authentication.
4. Sign in with your Sandcastles account.

Once you're connected, try asking: "Use Sandcastles to show me the top videos in my watchlist from the last 7 days."

Important notes

• If your account isn't on a Pro, Visionary or Titan plan, Sandcastles returns this message instead of results: "Your Sandcastles plan doesn't include MCP access." Upgrade, then try again.
• The MCP works in the workspace you last had open in Sandcastles. Ask OpenClaw to list your workspaces or switch to another one. Switching in OpenClaw also changes the workspace you see the next time you open Sandcastles.
• Analyzing a video uses 1 credit. If the video is already in your workspace, it doesn't use another credit. See Does using the Sandcastles MCP cost credits? for what's free and what isn't.
