Setting Up the Sandcastles MCP in Grok

The Sandcastles MCP (Model Context Protocol) connects Grok to your Sandcastles account, so you can research your watchlist, videos and channels right in your chats. You add Sandcastles once as a custom connector, on grok.com or in the Grok apps, then sign in with your Sandcastles account.

Before you start

• You need a Pro, Visionary or Titan plan. The MCP isn't included in the Starter plan.
• You can find the server URL in Sandcastles under Settings > Connectors on the MCP card. Hover over the URL and click Copy. The URL is https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/.

If you're on the Starter plan, the MCP card shows a See plans button instead of the URL.

Add Sandcastles to Grok

1. Go to grok.com/connectors and log in. In the Grok mobile app, go to Settings > Connectors.
2. Click New Connector.
3. Select Custom.
4. If you're asked for a name, enter Sandcastles.
5. In the Server URL field, enter https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/.
6. Add the connector.
7. When the sign-in window opens, log in with your Sandcastles account and approve access.

Grok Business and Enterprise

On a Grok Business or Enterprise team, an admin has to add the connector before members can use it.

1. As a team admin, go to console.x.ai > Grok Business > Connectors > + Add Connector > Other, and add Sandcastles with the server URL https://mcp.sandcastles.ai/.
2. Each member then goes to grok.com/connectors and connects their own Sandcastles account.

What you can do with the Sandcastles MCP

Once connected, you can ask Grok to:

• Find top videos: Search your watchlist, or every video Sandcastles has indexed, by keyword, outlier score, views, engagement, posting date and platform.
• Analyze videos: Break down a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube Shorts video's hook, format, narrative structure and topic.
• Research competitors: See the top hooks, topics and formats across your watchlist, or get a recap of a single channel.
• Grow your watchlist: Discover new channels in your niche and add channels to your watchlist.

Use Sandcastles to show me the top videos in my watchlist from the last 7 days.

Important notes

• If your account isn't on a Pro, Visionary or Titan plan, Sandcastles returns this message instead of results: "Your Sandcastles plan doesn't include MCP access."
• Analyzing a video uses 1 credit. If the video is already in your workspace, it doesn't use another credit. If you're out of credits, you'll see "You don't have enough credits to perform this action." You can buy more in Settings > Subscription > Buy additional credits.
• The MCP works in the workspace you last had open in Sandcastles. Ask Grok to list your workspaces or switch to another one. Switching in Grok also changes the workspace you see the next time you open Sandcastles.
