Understanding the /topics Tool

The /topics tool within Sandcastles is designed to help video creators identify trending topics within their niche. It analyzes your watch list and provides a clustered summary of the most relevant topics, allowing you to see which themes are currently performing well.

How it Works

When you use the /topics command, the tool will:

  1. Analyze your watch list: It looks at videos you've watched in the last 30 days.
  2. Rank by views: It ranks these videos based on their view count.
  3. Identify topics: It then links all individual videos to their respective topics.
  4. Cluster similar ideas: The results are synthesized into distinct themes, with 3-5 themes identified as currently working.
  5. Provide examples: For each theme, it describes what makes it distinctive and cites 2-3 example videos from your watch list.

Using the /topics Command

To use this tool, navigate to the "Cowork" section and type /topics into the chat input. You can then add specific prompts to refine your search. For example, you might ask:

/topics What are the highest-performing topics right now in my niche in the last 30 days? Can you rank them in order based on views and then link all the individual videos per topic? When I say topic, I don't mean topic category. I mean the idea seed. I want to have clustered videos around the same idea, maybe with different takes. I want them separated at a granular enough level so that I can look and see should I make this or not.
