Building an Effective Watchlist
The Channels feature allows you to build a watchlist of specific channels to include in your video feeds. This helps you focus your research and content discovery on the most relevant creators and topics.
Why Build a Watchlist?
Manually searching for content across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube can be time-consuming and often yields irrelevant results. By curating a watchlist, you streamline the process of identifying valuable content, understanding trending topics, and discovering effective hooks.
Four Ways to Build Your Watchlist:
- Suggested Channels: The platform provides AI-driven recommendations based on your existing watchlist and the content you engage with. These suggestions are ranked by relevance, helping you discover creators who are performing well in your niche.
- How to use: Browse the suggested list. Hover over a channel card and click the "Add to watchlist" icon (plus sign) or click anywhere on the card to add it. You can "Load more" suggestions if needed.
- Tip: The more you interact with the platform and add relevant channels, the better the suggestions will become.
- Describe Content: If you have a specific topic or content style in mind, use the "Describe" tab. Enter keywords related to the content you're looking for and filter by platform (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and account size (Nano, Micro, Small, Medium, Large, Mega).
- How to use: Type your keywords into the search bar (e.g., "social media marketing and content growth"). Select your desired platforms and account sizes. Click "Search" to see relevant results. You can then add channels by clicking the "Add to watchlist" icon.
- Tip: Focus on Micro, Small, and Medium account sizes for more niche and actionable insights, rather than overly broad "Mega" accounts.
- Search by Channel: If you already know specific creators you want to follow, use the "Search" tab.
- How to use: Type the channel handle or name into the search bar. The platform will show "Exact Matches" and "Approximate Matches." You can then add relevant channels to your watchlist.
- Tip: If you can't find a specific channel, try searching for related keywords in the "Describe" tab or manually add their profile URL.
- Add URL: If you find a channel or video outside of the platform that you want to track, you can add it directly.
- How to use: Copy the full URL of the channel or video. Go to the "Add URL" tab, paste the URL into the provided field, and click "Parse." If the channel is new, it will be added as a "New channel." If it's already recognized, you can add it to your watchlist.
- Note: New channels may require a brief analysis period (around 15-20 minutes) before their data is fully integrated.
Saving Your Watchlist
Once you've added channels to your watchlist, remember to click the "Save" button to confirm your selections. The "Save" button will illuminate when changes are made.
Best Practices for Effective Research:
- Start Broad, Then Narrow: Begin with broader keywords and filters in the "Describe" tab, then refine your search based on the initial results.
- Leverage "More Like This": If you find a creator whose content resonates with you, use the "More Like This" feature (double arrows icon) to discover similar channels.
- Analyze Top Performers: Pay attention to the videos with high outlier scores, views, and engagement. These often indicate successful content strategies and hooks.
- Don't Overlook Smaller Creators: While large channels have broad reach, smaller, niche creators often provide more targeted and actionable insights.
- Regularly Update: Periodically review and update your watchlist to ensure it remains relevant to your current goals and interests.
By utilizing these methods, you can build a powerful and personalized watchlist that significantly enhances your content research and idea generation process.
