Why do I have to build a list of channels to use Sandcastles?
Understanding the Channel List Feature
When you're researching content ideas, it's easy to get lost in the sheer volume of information available on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. While you can search for specific keywords or topics, this often leads to a lot of irrelevant content, making it difficult to find truly valuable insights.
This is why Sandcastle prompts you to build a list of channels first. By curating a list of top-performing channels within your niche, you create a focused dataset. This allows Sandcastle to:
- Identify Top-Performing Topics: See which topics are resonating most with audiences in your specific niche.
- Discover Effective Formats: Understand which video formats are driving engagement.
- Analyze Successful Hooks: Learn what kind of hooks are capturing attention.
- Save Time and Effort: Avoid sifting through irrelevant content by focusing your research on a curated list.
How to Build Your Channel List
While you can add individual videos by URL to your "Ideas Inbox" for analysis, building a channel list provides a more comprehensive and efficient research experience. Here's how:
- Navigate to Channels: In the left-hand navigation menu, click on "Channels."
- Explore Suggested Channels: Sandcastle will suggest channels based on your industry or initial research.
- Search for Channels: Use the search bar to find specific creators or brands relevant to your niche.
- Add Channels: Click the '+' icon next to any channel you want to add to your list.
- Add Custom URLs: If you find a channel not listed, you can add its URL directly.
Leveraging Your Channel List for Deeper Insights
Once you have populated your channel list, you can:
- Analyze Videos: Navigate to the "Videos" tab. Here, you can see all the videos from the channels you've added.
- Filter and Sort: Use the filters to narrow down videos by keywords, outlier score, engagement, posting date, and platform.
- Deep Dive Analysis: Select individual videos or use the "Add video URL" feature to analyze specific content. This allows you to understand the hooks, topics, and formats that are working.
By investing a small amount of time upfront to build your channel list, you significantly enhance the effectiveness of your content research within Sandcastle, leading to more targeted and successful content strategies.
